Jordan's Walk for the Kids Fundraising Page
I joined Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC in September, and have been working hard to ensure that all children in NYC have the opportunity to a healthy and supported mentor. I've always supported Big Brothers Big Sisters, and was thrilled at the opportunity to join the NYC team (BBBS actually started in NYC, over 100 years ago!). However, it wasn't until joining the agency that I heard the stories, and saw the direct impact of mentoring. We all remember that one adult (who wasn't a parent) who talked to us like a friend, listened to us with intention, and through that friendship had a significant impact on our lives. Some of you were that adult for me!
For many of the kids we serve, our mentors (whom we refer to as, "Bigs") are the only adult that children receive one-on-one attention from. Through mentoring, the children we serve (whom we refer to as, "Littles") are more likely to graduate high school, show significant improvement in academic performance, and parents report an increase in self-esteem.
Our biggest fundraising effort - the 14th Annual Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City Walk for the Kids - takes place on Saturday, September 15, 2018. The Walk for the Kids is a day that celebrates the power of mentoring in NYC.
I am asking for your help to support my fundraising efforts with a donation. Any amount, great or small, allows Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City to help underserved children by providing them with caring adult mentors who help to expand their horizons and enrich their futures.
Thank you in advance for your support!
