Any amount, great or small, helps Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City change the lives of underserved children by providing them with caring adult mentors who help to expand their horizons and enrich their futures.

I matched with my little Xavier over 2 years ago now, just before the Covid 19 pandemic began. Xavier is a great kid, and we love hanging out together. We do everything from exploring the city, going to shows and museums, and bowling, but our favorite thing to do together is to play basketball.

I got involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters to give back to my community. I had such a privileged life growing up and had countless role models that I could look up to and follow in their example. I realize how important having a big brother or a role model is, and i want to pay it forward in a meaningful way by setting a good example. I soon realized it's not just me helping him, but him helping me, as he helps me get a new perspective on life, and to be more appreciative of the things we have and how lucky we actually are, rather than focusing on the things we don't have.
