2019 Big-Little Challenge

Asian Mentoring Committee

Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) NYC is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing children who face adversity an opportunity to experience a strong, enduring professionally supported one-to-one mentorship relationship with adults that will help change their lives for the better. It is undeniable that when someone has a mentor to look up to and learn from, that it can have a profound impact on their life.

Among Big Brothers Big Sisters affinity groups, the Asian Mentoring Committee's (AMC) goals and mission is to provide that invaluable support for Asian communities, especially immigrant families transitioning to New York City, who may not have the resources or knowledge or access to opportunities.

Through Big Brothers Big Sisters and the work of AMC, we work to recruit new mentors, support current mentees through a series of group outings and match events, and build partnerships with community organizations and corporations; especially towards BBBS NYC's New American Program. The New American Program (NAP) is a specialized mentoring program, helping children from immigrant families overcome the unique obstacles they may face while navigating culture, language, and customs different from their home environment. NAP currently supports the Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean speaking communities in New York City.

Through your generous donations, we're excited to be able to provide support to the Asian community as well as make this experience as memorable for all participants. Your contributions will have an empoweing impact for our youth. Thank you in advance!
